What the labels on a profile mean
Some pages on Lope On were put together by Lope On, not by the people they are about.
Why a page exists that nobody asked for
Lope On builds pages for riders, horses and yards from information that is already public — competition results, a yard’s own website, a breed registry. The point is that somebody searching for a horse or a trainer finds a page that is accurate and attributed rather than nothing at all.
That is only defensible if three things are true, and they are the three things this page exists to state plainly: such a page never claims to be written or endorsed by its subject, it shows where every statement came from, and it comes down on request, immediately, without a reason being required.
Claimed is not Verified
These get conflated everywhere else, so here is the difference.
Claimed means somebody proved they can receive mail at an address the page already pointed at, and now manages it. It is about control of the page. It is not a statement about who they are.
Verified means Lope On actually checked an identity, and the page says what was checked. It is never sold. Charging for it would turn a factual claim into a purchase, and then the badge would mean “paid” while still looking like “checked” — which is the point at which a badge starts misleading people.
An unclaimed page gets no badge at all, not even a grey one saying “unverified”. A grey tick still reads as a status the subject took part in.

If there is a page about you
You can claim it and correct it, or ask for it to be removed. The removal form is on every page, needs no account, and does not ask you to justify yourself. An unclaimed page is hidden the moment you ask, before anybody reads the request.
You will not be asked to sign up in order to leave, and asking for removal does not require you to consider claiming first.
Anything else — get in touch and a person will read it.
